Hamsey Parish Council are pleased to welcome Mr Robin Pinder from Cooksbridge. Cllr.Pinder fills the vacancy left by the resignation of Councillor Kevin Froude,for the period ending May 2011.

OFFHAM HILL. Police were alerted to camping on the plateau on Thursday 27th May. Police Officers and a PCSO attended and made the campers aware that they were committing a crime.

HAMSEY SCHOOL PTA raised over £1100 from their refreshment stall at the Lewes Biodiversity Day on 22nd May. Thanks from Chair, Dot Bowen, to caterers Kathy, Sarah, Gae, Alex, the Rachels, Dave, Pete, Nick, Jane, Mandy and all the many cake-makers.

OFFHAM HOUSE OPEN GARDENS were again blessed with glorious weather on Sunday 6th June, attracting 304 paying adults plus their children. Entrance charges, teas and plant sales together raised a very impressive £2428 for charity.

SCHOOL PARKING. Hamsey School Head Teacher, Mike Hirst, and Hamsey PC Chair, Michael Bell, have written to the ESCC Lead Member for Transport seeking support in finding a long term solution to the parking needs of parents dropping off and picking up children.

STATION PARTNERSHIP. Parish Councillor, Robert Baughan, will be meeting on site with the Sussex Community Rail Partnership and the local Southern Station Manager to discuss the inclusion of Cooksbridge in the Station Partnership Scheme. Robert will then start work with local volunteers to improve the environment at the station. If you want to help, please contact the Clerk.

COMMUNITY ENHANCEMENT AWARD. Is there someone in the Parish who makes a special contribution which deserves to be recognised with the Parish Council's Community Enhancement Award? Anyone can make a nomination; forms are available on the website, though nominations need to be with the Clerk by the end of June.

CHANDLERS MEAD. Resident, Jenny Millington, reported damage caused by large recycling vehicles to the driveway at the entrance to the allotments. This has now been repaired by ESCC Highways.

BEECHWOOD HALL.At the last meeting the Trustees approved the purchase of stage lighting up to the value of £1000. This will be used to light up the very popular shows staged at the Hall and the Chair has already booked three more events for the Autumn. The Hall continues to operate very successfully. rental income for the year ending 5th April 2010 was £14427, up from £7945 in the previous financial year. This would not happen without the tireless voluntary efforts of the trustees, supported by Jane Holford, the very proficient Hall Manager.
